Life Coaching

60 minutes: $60

Life Coaching is for those who are seeking self-improvement and wellness, who want general guidance, advice, education, and support in order to reach a specific goal.  For example:  to change thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors, or to learn relaxation techniques, or to increase self-care and self-awareness.    Coaching may be used in order to achieve more focus, increase relaxation and reduce stress, feel more centered and grounded, think more positively and rationally, and/or achieve specific goals related to well-being .  The outcomes of life coaching are usually feeling happier, reduced stress, a more peaceful mind, increased motivation, moving forward to reach set goals, improved lifestyle satisfaction, and increased overall well-being.

Life coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.   Focus is on setting and achieving measurable goals, tapping into your unique inner strengths and resources, such as passion, drive, motivation, perseverance, endurance, compassion, independence, leadership, creativity, knowledge, and/or wisdom.  To get unstuck and move forward, weighing pros and cons, exploring and evaluating possible options, problem solving, decision making, planning for and overcoming obstacles, and finding workable solutions are important goals to work on together.  The journey or process can be just as important as the destination.  Life Coaching is not counseling or therapy.

Swedish Massage

60 minutes: $60

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as kneading (petrissage), gliding (effleurage), and percussion (tapotement) to help the body improve its circulation. Long flowing and connecting "Esalen" type strokes may be incorporated to connect the whole body, but only if the client is comfortable with this.  The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, overall mind-body relaxation, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, better sleep, increased blood circulation, decreased anxiety, and greater flexibility.  The lymph and "glymph" fluid systems will be stimulated to increase flow of cerebrospinal and interstitial fluids inside and in between the cells of the body. Brief lymphatic massage techniques can be added to help drain fluid (ex: ankles).

Deep Tissue Massage

60 minutes: $60

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body, and reaching deeper muscles. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable.  Please inform the therapist directly and in the moment if more or less pressure is wanted, as the goal is not to cause pain or harm.  Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and movement of toxins that may have been released from the deep tissue during the session.  In order to loosen constricted tight muscles,  and be able to go deeper, the therapist will need to first warm up the muscles.    Cross fiber friction and multidirectional friction help unwind contracted muscles.  Elbows, forearms, and knuckles may be used.  Going from light, to medium, to firm, then to deep pressure, and slow purposeful movements, help muscles unwind and unguard, preparing the muscles for deeper bodywork and muscle release.  The therapist can go as deep as the tissues will allow, but comfort and safety will be respected.  Deeper massage may possibly help soften or break up old scar tissue from past injuries or surgeries.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release contracted muscle tissue.  Jennifer only goes as deep as the tissue allows, and the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.  Deep tissue does not have to be painful and ripping tissue is not the goal.  With techniques from Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, muscles may be softened and lifted off of nerves which may even help with entrapped or pinched nerves.

Neuromuscular Therapy

60 minutes: $60

Neuromuscular Therapy, sometimes called Myotherapy or Trigger Point Therapy, uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.  It involves applying focused pressure onto specific points of the body called "trigger points" as well as tender areas, in order to reduce muscle strain and help lengthen bunched up and shortened muscle fibers. Trigger points are places in the body that can cause pain and even refer pain to other areas of the body. For instance a trigger point on the hamstring might cause pain in the lower back. These trigger points are contracted muscle tissue and can be unwound by applying direct pressure to the muscle for several seconds with either the hands, fingers, or elbows. Through several sessions, trigger points are decreased or eliminated, restoring full function and health to the body.

Trigger points usually occur in the belly of the muscle, and sometimes near the attachments.  These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points.  Jennifer only goes as deep as the tissue allows, and the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.  Deep tissue does not have to be painful and ripping tissue is not the goal.  With techniques from Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, muscles can be softened and lifted off of nerves which may help with entrapped or pinched nerves.

Sports Massage

60 minutes: $60

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics, and can also be for off site athletic events, pre-event and post-event. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Sports Massage is not just for athletes though.  The compressions used can warm up and soften muscles so that when stretching or exercise is performed, there is less soreness, stiffness, and pain.  Because if a muscles tears too much, instead of muscle building there will be muscle injury, which would then interfere with exercising.  The "weekend warrior" or the person who overdid it at the gym would benefit from this type of massage as well.

Research wise, it is debatable whether lactic acid is responsible for delayed onset muscle soreness as well as whether toxins are released from massage.  Small muscle tears from exercise cause soreness and fatigue, lead to repairing and rebuilding, and may cause the pain/inflammation; this contributes to muscle building.  (Warm moist heat my help warm the muscles beforehand, and ice may help the muscles afterwards.  Hydration helps the muscles, fascia, and gel-like "ground substance" in the body stay pliable which helps movement).

To relieve pain and eliminate cramping, Magnesium Cream, Menthol, Capsaicin, Lidocaine, Camphor, Arnica, Tiger Balm with Chinese Herbs, and other products and ingredients are available upon request.  Hydrotherapy, applied heat, and applied icing are  services available upon request.

Chair Massage

60 minutes: $60
30 minutes: $40

Seated and clothed chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension.  This service can be provided in your home, in your office or at your workplace, business meeting, at off site corporate events, at parties, sporting events, other events, or another meeting place.   The therapist will provide and bring her own ergonomic chair to the workplace, office, or event.  In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing.  Scented or unscented complementary lotion can be applied to the hands to moisturize and soften the skin, as well as relieve muscle tension.  With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage, as well as not get any lotion or oil on you.   Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into a busy schedule or even on your lunch hour.

Chair massage is a separate service from table massage; it can be added on to any of the services provided as well.

* For workplace, corporate, or other events for groups:  There is a minimum of one hour chair massage (60 min.) for $60 flat fee per hour, regardless of the number of clients seen.  This reservation is for the massage therapist's time.  In addition to this, $0.54 per mile to and from the event will be charged for the massage therapist's travel.

30 minutes: $45

This is a separate service; it is not part of the massage therapy service.  It can be added on and scheduled before a massage, after a massage, or just by itself.  The session will begin with a rejuvenating foot cleansing to invigorate the feet to make them smell delightful, and end with a brief foot massage to soften and moisturize the skin, promote circulation, relieve sore or fatigued feet, and enhance relaxation.

Chinese Foot Reflexology is a type of Eastern Asian bodywork that focuses on protocols that apply pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, this reflexology aims to harmonize the entire body and help restore healthy homeostasis in the body. According to ancient reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet.  Whether you agree or not, it sure feels good.  One does not have to believe in meridians, chakras, auras, qui, or other energy bodywork concepts in order to benefit from reflexology.  Reflexology treatments help rebalance the body and restore wellness in the body.  The mind and body are connected.  Qi or Chi energy flow will be moved throughout the body.  Hand reflexology is also available upon request ahead of time.

Myofascial Massage Therapy

60 minutes: $60

Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on stretching tissues and releasing tension in this important membrane. Skin rolling is a myofascial release technique to break up adhesions.  (Fascia is all over inside the body, and it even affects the tendons, ligaments, bones, and other structures inside the body).

Myofascial stretching and release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release can be deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Hot Stone Therapy

60 minutes: $70

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body above a heated wet towel and the stones are used to massage the muscles to deepen relaxation, reduce muscle tension, and promote circulation in your muscles. The therapist will use the heat from the stones to warm her hands and then transfer the heat onto the skin and into the muscles.  Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Pregnancy Massage

60 minutes: $70

Pregnancy Massage is a nurturing style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, pregnancy massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.  The massage cream, lotion, or oil can also help with dry and itchy skin and may help prevent stretch marks.  Pregnant women are usually placed in a side-lying position with pillows and/or bolsters to help support her and her changing body.  Massage therapy services will not be done in the first trimester without written permission by a physician or ob/gyn.  It is highly recommended that all pregnant women directly consult a physician or ob/gyn before obtaining massage therapy services.  Self-care is important for creating a calm mind, and reducing stress hormones, which in turn creates a more optimal environment for the baby to grow and thrive.

CBD Oil Infused Massage Session

60 minutes: $85

THC-free genuine CBD oil is topically applied to help reduce system inflammation, induce deeper relaxation, and enhance your sense of well-being.  Relaxing music playing in the background stimulates beta, alpha, gamma, and theta brain waves to promote better focus, concentration, and relaxation.  To delight the senses and achieve a state of peaceful balance, aromatic patchouli essential oil, sacred Indian Nag Champa incense, and salt lamp therapy are all available upon request ahead of time.

Sleep Massage Session

60 minutes: $75

Using a specific essential oil blend and relaxation music with specific binaural beats that affect delta brain waves, "sleep massage" helps prevent insomnia and reduces mental fatigue.   It is easier to sleep after a head, neck, and back massage also.  This massage uses flowing and connecting strokes to promote a deeper sleep.  The goal is to fall asleep faster, stay asleep, and not awake before the alarm goes off, so you can enter the 4th REM stage of sleep, which is the most restorative.   An eye mask can be used upon request ahead of time, in order to keep out any light.  You will be positively and proactively promoting your health and wellness, as good quality sleep affects the body and mind in a positive way.

Geriatric Massage

30 minutes: $30
60 minutes: $60

Geriatric massage or eldercare massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. Massage may help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as possibly regain strength, improve circulation, or improve certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness.  We all have a need for human contact and human touch.  Seniors as they age need to keep their muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments in the best shape possible in order to prevent injuries and later potential falls.  We can meet in your home, or your room, for example, at an assisted living facility, retirement community, senior apartments, nursing home, convalescence or rehabilitation facility, hospital room, residential care, etc.  Massage has so many connected mind-body-spirit-environment benefits, and it can be used as complementary health care, preventative health care, integrative health care, and/or alternative health care.  Humans need touch to survive and thrive.  Stress, depression, grief, trauma, loneliness, sadness, anxiety, overthinking, worry....there are many reasons that people seek relaxation massage therapy.  Pain, joint stiffness, muscle soreness, range of motion issues, and circulation issues are common reasons why people seek therapeutic massage therapy.

This massage therapist can provide in-home eldercare massage therapy services or travel to residential nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or other senior living communities.

Therapeutic Aromatherapy

As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation.  Also, assisted PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching helps increase flexibility and range of motion.  The principle of reciprocal inhibition can be evoked to help release cramping muscles.  Used before and after working out as well as athletic events. Movement education may be used to increase body and movement awareness and coordination, which increases mind-body connection.  This is a separate service; it is not part of the massage therapy service.  It can be scheduled before a massage, during the massage, or after a massage, or just by itself.

Ex:  If I am going to a client's home and bringing my massage table to set up in her house to give her a Swedish Massage, or if my client is coming to one of the locations I am at to get a deep tissue massage or a chair massage, she would pay for my table or chair massage service plus my travel time.
